What material is used in chair rug covers? 

Yarn material is knitted rag, which is produced of fabric surplus from the textile industry from Turkey. Stretchy base fabric is polyester.

 

How is a chair rug cover made?

A chair rug cover is knotted by hand by Syrian refugee women residing in Turkey. Each rug is a unique piece of art designed by its' maker. 

 

Why do we employ Syrian refugees?

Syria’s civil war has created the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. Half the country’s pre-war population - more than 11 million people - have been killed or forced to flee their homes. Empowering people to survive through crisis and build better lives is only possible with our support.

 

Why do we employ women?

Women living in the middle of the war zone have been put in a very weak position so they need our support. Employing mothers enables children to receive an education which is necessary for building a better future for their families and the society.

 

Is a chair rug cover washable?

Yes. Waterwash in 40 degrees Celsius of emulsion wash in 30 degrees Celsius. Care and usage instructions come with the product.

 

How much does a chair rug cover weigh?

Small chair rug cover weighs approximately 4 kg (9 lb). Big chair rug cover weighs approximately 13 kg (29 lb).

 

How do you reach the women who need help the most?

The women are found with the help of our local humanitarian organization partner in Turkey. We hire them straight through our Turkish subsidiary Ragamuf Production. 

 

What are the women's wages?

Each woman is paid a fair wage for each finished product.

 

How do you ensure that the women receive their wages? 

We hire the women through our subsidiary and pay the wages directly to them.

 

Does RAGAMUF ship worldwide?

Yes. Only exception is Russia. We are sorry, but our delivery company is not able deliver to Russia at the moment.
