Finnish and Syrian women join hands to create RAGAMUF CHAIR RUG COVERS

A stretchy RAGAMUF chair rug cover fits chairs of different shapes and sizes. The rugs are hand-made out of knitted rug, which is produced of the fabric surpluses of the textile industry. Each RAGAMUF chair rug is unique, as its maker can personally pick the colors and design.

The women we employ are Syrian refugees currently residing in Turkey. We hire women, who are currently living in a poor financial situation with a desire to lead independent lives comfortably. Our local partner in Turkey is a local humanitarian aid organization whose aid enables us to find our employees.

RAGAMUF chair rug cover was launched with an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in January 17th 2017. The goal of this campaign was to receive pre-orders and to achieve international visibility, which will enable us to hire as many refugee women as possible. The funds raised during the campaign will be used to open an online store during 2017.

The owner and founder of RAGAMUF is Martta Leskelä, M.Sc., an entrepreneur from Oulu, Finland. The chair rug has been designed by Tuula Pöyhönen, a designer from Helsinki, Finland.
